In July 2025, Ambilight marks its 8th anniversary. Over the past eight years, we have continuously advanced our core technologies, strengthened product capabilities, and accelerated innovation to help define the global electrochromic (EC) industry. We are grateful to every partner who has been part of this journey and look forward to building an "Infinite Future" together.
Full-Stack R&D, Global Coordination
Ambilight has built a complete research-to-production ecosystem across three strategic locations:
The Indiana Laboratory in the U.S. conducts foundational research on EC principles and mechanisms.
The Shenzhen R&D and Innovation Center designs the product roadmap and drives breakthroughs in materials and processing.
The Suzhou Engineering and Manufacturing Center focuses on production scalability and quality optimization.
Together, these centers form a closed-loop R&D system supported by dozens of PhDs and hundreds of engineers. This structure allows Ambilight to rapidly translate theory into engineering practice, supporting long-term, sustainable product evolution.
From Experimental Technology to Global Mass Production
While electrochromic materials have been explored for decades, especially blue-tinted systems, the challenges of scaling black electrochromic materials have remained significant due to their complex structures, ion migration behavior, and spectral control issues.
Ambilight has achieved four product generations in just eight years. We transitioned from basic blue systems to deep black tints, from gray-blacks to finely tuned color tones — while consistently improving dimming performance and process efficiency.
In May 2025, our monthly output exceeded 10,000 units, setting a new global record in EC automotive applications.
Today, we hold more than 610 patents across materials, equipment, and processes — reaffirming our leadership in electrochromic innovation.
Adopted by Over 20 Vehicle Models and Counting
Ambilight’s dimming technology is now integrated into more than 20 new energy vehicle (NEV) models from brands including BYD, NIO, Zeekr, Xiaomi, and Aston Martin. Our solutions power panoramic roofs, side windows, and other light-sensitive cabin components.
Once considered a premium option, dimming glass has become a key cabin feature, validated by feedback from over 100,000 end users. This technology is now shaping the benchmark for intelligent lighting environments in vehicles.
Expanding Beyond Automotive: Four Key Sectors
Electrochromic technology is not limited to vehicles. Ambilight is developing a broader ecosystem across four major areas:
Smart Automotive: Deployed across over 20 NEV models with partners such as BYD, NIO, and Xiaomi.
Green Architecture: Applied in low-carbon parks and zero-carbon buildings across the Yangtze River Delta, enabling energy-saving glass facades.
Consumer Electronics: In partnership with OPPO, Ambilight launched the world’s first EC smartphone — the Reno5 Pro++.
Wearable Tech: Developed EC sunglasses for dynamic outdoor activities, including skiing and cycling.
From a single lab to a global production network, and from early proof-of-concept to large-scale commercialization, Ambilight continues to define the next phase of electrochromic development.
Looking Forward: Infinite Possibilities
We believe electrochromic technology will redefine how materials interact with light, energy, and people. As a global pioneer, Ambilight remains committed to deep, long-term investment in scalable innovation — building an infinite future where EC is not just a feature, but a foundation for intelligent environments.
